Brixham “Alternative Scillies”

Brixham Gig Club will be holding a fun ‘Alternative Scillies’ Pirate gig event on Sunday 30th April 2017. We would like to invite clubs to join us and we would welcome crews or individual rowers to attend, including juniors, novices and social rowers. We will be using plastic gigs and the course will be short sprint heats from the end of the Breakwater to the Beach and may include novelty races.
We hope this will be a fun event getting into the spirit of the Pirate Festival which is also being held during that weekend therefore, would encourage all rowers to dress like a Pirate! There are lots of activities going on around the harbour all weekend and we will have prizes for the best fancy dress and some of the races. The races include mens, ladies, mens vets, ladies vets, juniors, social/novice (order tbc) and a BBQ and refreshments will also be available on the day.
We intend to start the races at 11am (10am if there is a lot of interest) and hope to finish by 4pm in order to get the boats out of the water in time for the presentation in the town.
We will need to borrow plastic gigs so if you can help us by lending yours for the day, it would be very much appreciated. We may be able assist with collecting your gig locally if your trailer is not available. With this in mind, would you please let us know by Easter Bank Holiday Monday 17th April 2017, if you have a gig we could borrow and if you have rowers or crews for numbers so that we can start organising for the day.
