With the 2025 World Pilot Gig Championships just around the corner, the excitement is building, and if you’ve already pre-ordered your official merchandise or spotted some of this year’s gear, you’re in for something special.
Join us as we take a closer look at the local designer and founder of Traceless Designs, Maisie, and the incredible journey behind the official merchandise for this year’s event.
A new chapter for Traceless Designs
This year, Maisie has expanded her operations in a big way. After several successful years working out of Phoenix Craft Studios, she’s recently moved into a brand-new creative space, just across from the iconic gig shed on St. Mary’s. The location couldn’t be more perfect, as Maisie is not only running her business but also competing in the World Pilot Gig Championships herself!
The new space has been a game-changer, allowing her to upgrade her printing setup and take full control of the process. “I’m in my final week of printing, and once that’s done, I’ll be heat-sealing the pre-orders and stock ready for the event in early May,” Maisie shares. “Being able to print everything myself has been so rewarding. I can’t wait to see the finished products out there at the event!”

A personal touch with every garment
As a rower herself, Maisie knows the importance of creating merchandise that speaks to the spirit of the event. The 2025 designs are a true reflection of the vibrant community and love for the sport that the World Pilot Gig Championships represents. “Each piece of clothing is crafted to capture the energy of the event, the camaraderie of the rowers, and the beauty of the Isles of Scilly,” she says.
The new location is not just convenient for Maisie to run her business; it’s also a place she’s eager to welcome visitors during the event. “I’m looking forward to inviting people into my space to show them where their merchandise was printed. It’s a chance to connect with the community, share the story behind the designs, and celebrate the event in a new way.”
Supporting the local gig club and community
As the only place to buy official WPGC merchandise, Maisie is proud to be able to give back to the local gig rowing community. “I’ve been working hard to print more merchandise this year, especially after selling out within two days at the event last year,” she says. “It’s great to be able to raise money for the St Mary’s Gig Club and support the event. It feels amazing to know that every piece of merchandise sold helps keep this incredible event going for years to come.”
