Saturday 18th January 2025 saw the exciting launch of our Bristol Gig Club’s (BGC) first club house. Finding a home on Bristol’s busy harbourside has been a historically difficult challenge and one our Club House Task Force had been beavering away at since October 2023. The Club House Task Force was a group of club and committee members, headed up by our previous Chair Ben Boudier and our current Chair Lisa Freeland.
Thanks to their hard work, our dream of having a Club House is now a reality. The fantastic space that the team have secured at Bristol’s Underfall Yard will provide a home for us to come together as a club and is a true testament to the Club House Task Force’s dedication.
The Club House Grand Opening saw BGC members come together for a ceremonial ribbon cutting, a speech from our Chair Lisa, celebratory bubbles, BGC beanies, and copious amounts of cake! A host of talented bakers from the club donated to a fundraising cake sale, helping make the celebrations even more special. The launch party was a fantastic day for all and the start of an exciting journey ahead for our club.

Our new Chair Lisa said, “Bristol Gig Club began negotiations for our new club house in October 2023. This process has involved hundreds of emails, WhatsApp messages, and numerous meetings. We are excited about this new chapter as we have never had a dedicated space to call our own. The clubhouse will provide opportunities for cox training, taster sessions, junior development, club nights…the list goes on! We will encourage members to share ideas for making the space enjoyable and beneficial for everyone.”
We are keen for our new club house to be a collaborative space that celebrates and supports everything that BGC has to offer, and have opened the floor to ideas from our lovely members on how to best achieve this.
The club extends a big thank you to all those who joined us to celebrate our new club house, and an even bigger one to those who made it possible.
