After years of promising to host a regatta, Bristol Gig Club have undertaken to host a Sprint Championships on 26th and 27th October.
Bristol Gig Club Bristol Chairperson, Ben Boudier said, “We are very excited to be holding this event in Bristol. Gig rowers always bring such a great atmosphere of competition and camaraderie and the city will make a great backdrop for these two days of racing. We have enjoyed the hospitality of so many amazing rowing venues over the years. For those who haven’t visited Bristol before, we look forward to welcoming you all and promise a lively party!”
The Bristol Sprint Championships format will involve loan boats and consist of 2 days of racing with Saturday featuring time trials over a 1.3km distance and Sunday consisting of ‘knockout rounds’ via 500m sprints. Saturday evening will include an all important party which may well test the resilience of competitors during the Sunday races!
