On the 20th of January, six members of Langstone Pilot Gig Club completed 100,000 metres on the ergo for charity. The charity row, organised by CrossFit Iron Duke, saw 36 teams of 4 collectively row 3.6 million metres raising over £12,000 for mental health charities SolentMind and Reorg.

REORG is a charity that supports serving and veteran members of the armed forces and emergency services. Solent MIND is part of a larger network of over 100 Local Minds who tailor trusted mental health services to communities.

Langstone Women’s A team (Jane, Hannah, Gemma and Lizy) competed together as part of their training in preparation for the World Pilot Gig Championships. Each member of the team completed 25k, finishing in an impressive 7 hours and 34 minutes. Two other members (Aisling and Jon) from the club also competed as part of mixed teams.

Lizy Brett from Langstone would like to say, “A big thank you to CrossFit Iron Duke, who continue to support our rowing club with strength and conditioning, fitness training and for organising such a great event.”
