The Jurassic League decided earlier this year that we would hold 5 point scoring regattas and we would take turns in hosting these regattas each year. Langstone’s regatta was not a Jurassic Point Scoring event and so we knew that participation from other Jurassic clubs may be low.
We were lucky to have Poole, Portland and Weymouth in attendance and so we took the opportunity to include Lewes, London Cornish, Eastney Cruising Association and Coastal Rowing Academy Club.
The regatta was run with two timed heats and this worked really well with Jurassic rivals fighting it out in the first heat and newer clubs getting great experience of racing against each other in the second.
Langstone Pilot Gig Club won the regatta followed by Poole Gig Club and Weymouth Rowing Club.
It was a really successful day with some lovely comments from the newer clubs as it was their first experience of a regatta run by a CPGA member club.
