Langstone had an amazing day on Saturday 17th December with a great opportunity to see where Peter Williams creates the most beautiful works of art!
Their new gig Heart of Hayling has taken shape in the upper floor of Peter’s boat house in Bodinnick, tucked in along the river Fowey’s estuary and she is a real beauty. Six of the club members took a 12 hour round trip and it was worth the 9 hours of travelling to see her lifted out of the shed and down the steep slope into the water. An amazing feat when you see how this happens with only a few centimetres to spare. The club have recently registered a Planning Application for a wooden gig shelter at their location for their racing gigs.
Langstone are looking forward to the 2023 season and taking part in the Jurassic League along with Weymouth, Swanage, Bridport, Poole, Portland, Lyme Regis, Exmouth and Sidmouth. Club representatives met by Zoom this week to share their news and plan the next season. This League continues to offer all these clubs a highly competitive addition to the season with friendly rivalry, a generous sponsor, great venues and the continuation of the Junior Jurassic League. It offers a great benchmark and the ability to share each other’s successes. Point scoring regattas for 2023 will be hosted by Weymouth, Bridport, Swanage, Exmouth and Sidmouth.
