Chapman Cornish Pilot Gig Trailer

The Chapman Cornish Pilot Gig Trailer is designed by a gig rower for gig rowers, and manufactured in Cornwall at the heart of Cornish Pilot Gig racing. High quality design and construction designed to protect your club’s most valuable asset. The single-piece main frame is fabricated and fully welded in steel, and then hot-dipped galvanised as one complete piece in order to make these trailers both lighter and considerably stronger then existing trailers on the market to properly support the boat when being transported.

The one-piece construction is designed to significantly reduce trailer flex, both laden and unladen, which reduces the potential for boat damage, as well as improving stability when towing. The bow of the boat is aligned right over the drawbar to reduce the towing length and improve balance, reducing bouncing. 4 fixed keel supports along the centre of the boat and 4 variable height supports to ensure the boat is well supported during transit. Side supports are angled and located such that when in the loading position (supports down) the keel supports do not drag the ground and are protected within the framework of the trailer itself.

Single axle configuration for maximum manoeuvrability and fitted with 195/55 R13 wheels for easy travel across beaches when launching for smooth towing along roads. The Jockey wheel fitted is puncture-proof and extra-wide, again for easy launching and movement. Mudguards are integrated into the frame of the machine from 2mm galvanised steel, and fully enclose the inside wheel arch to reduce mud and water spraying onto the boat whilst still allowing easy access should the wheel need to be removed.
