I hope you have had a great weekend in the sunshine?
Langstone Pilot Gig Club certainly have as we have attended beautiful Lyme Regis for their regatta which was also the final Point Scoring Regatta for the 2022 Jurassic League.
The Jurassic League includes CPGA gig clubs from Langstone, Poole, Portland, Weymouth, Bridport, Swanage, Sidmouth, Exmouth, Lyme Regis and Combwich and was set up to encourage racing and strong competition within our region. This year also saw the introduction of the Jurassic Junior Gig Rowing League to promote Junior Gig Rowing which we believe is the only Junior specific gig rowing league. Both Leagues are sponsored by AEP Compressed Air Technologies who provide all the medals and trophies for each event along with trophies for adult and junior league winners.
Here are some images of the event and specifically the Jurassic League prizegiving which saw Langstone Pilot Gig Club dominate , winning Ladies B, Mens A, Mens B, Mens Vets, Mens Supervets and Mixed categories. Bridport won Ladies A and Ladies Supervets, Swanage won Ladies Vets and Weymouth Juniors won the first ever Jurassic Junior Gig Rowing League trophy. A special mention goes to Poole Juniors who are a new crew and had a fantastic race on the day taking joint third in the League! The Jurassic League overall was won by Langstone with Bridport in 2nd and Swanage in 3rd.
