Boscastle and Crackington Gig Club are delighted to finally be able to reveal that they will be on Channel 4’s new series of Devon and Cornwall this Friday at 8pm.
The programme follows Peter Williams and his build of Boscastle’s new Gig, Torrent. As well as the build, cameras were there to cover the challenge of extracting the boat from Peter’s shed, her first launch onto the water at Fowey and her journey home to Boscastle.
This all happened in October 2020 and the challenges of organising an event during covid restrictions that was legally compliant and a good spectacle for the cameras was enormous, but we had a fantastic day of filming and got to experience the excitement of picking up our long awaited new boat. We were particularly touched that there was such a big turnout from the village of Boscastle and it meant a lot at a difficult time to see so much support.
