Previously planned for October 2020, the Bermuda international regatta was put on hold due to the COVID pandemic early last year with the hopes of being able to resume in 2021. A number of registrants rebooked their flights in the hopes of coming to Bermuda in October of this year. However, after much discussion, the Bermuda club has decided to postpone until October 2022.
“While the world is starting to show signs of conquering this pandemic, it remains an uncertain place. The current travel restrictions, government mandated health and safety protocols in Bermuda for large sports gatherings, and the uncertainty of where Bermuda will be in October 2021, all played a part in the decision-making process,” said a representative of Bermuda’s Regatta Committee.
BPGC is a small, volunteer run club who aim to give 150% effort and warm welcome to all visiting crews during their international regattas. Well known for their welcome and closing parties, as well as some epic racing in between, BPGC’s Regatta Committee and Board feel very strongly that “if you all make the effort to come and visit us, we want to be able to offer as much rowing and fun as possible!”
