Tatty was chairman of the CPGA from 1989 – 1995.
During his time at the helm the sport laid the foundations for what it is now. A Code of Conduct, the formalisation of the procedures concerning construction of a new gig including an official measurer, annual subscriptions to the CPGA established, design of courses, the formation of a CPGA committee to name a few.
Tatty was known by many for leading the singing whenever there was an opportunity to have a ‘shout’.
Throughout time as chair he was an active rower with Cadgwith and more recently with Falmouth.
Tatty would always take his time to have a chat with all and took his place on a Monday during the annual Newquay / Scillies weekend to share his wealth of knowledge in his stories / speeches.
He is a great loss to the gig rowing community to which he gave massive energy, enthusiasm and many years of service.
Our sympathies are with all his family and friends.
