The story:
A Shore Thing are a crew of four women from Tamar and Tavy Gig Club plan to row from London to Land’s End next year as part of the GB Row Challenge. Susan Douglass, Anya Anstey, Rebecca Mingo and Charity Phillips have set themselves an epic challenge to raise money for mental health charities Devon Mind and Cornwall Mind.
They will row 500 miles nonstop and unaided, 2hrs on the oars, 2hrs rest, day and night until they reach their destination. The challenge requires training in sea survival, navigation and use of the equipment on board the ocean rowing boat that will be their home for several weeks.
The crew will need to navigate the world’s busiest shipping lane, winds, tides and the British weather, and overcome fatigue, sores and seasickness.
The mission:
To raise money to fund their row they have set up a virtual race, great motivation for individuals or crews who want some competitiveness in the coming months, and medals and certificates for all finishers!
They will also have prizes available for various categories.
