About us
Cape Cornwall Pilot Gig Club is one of the oldest clubs founded in 1989 based at Sennen Cove and is the most westerly club on the mainland. The club has two wooden gigs named after local rocks, ‘Cape Cornwall’ built in 1990 and ‘Brisons’ in 2001 as well as a composite training gig ‘Longships’ made in 2010. We are in the privileged position of being able to row out of both Penzance and Sennen Cove.
Recruitment
Cape Cornwall Pilot Gig Club is a small club with ambitions to be much more competitive during the 2020 season. At the moment membership is almost entirely over 50 with a small number of rowers in their 40’s. Meaning we are competitive in vets and supervets categories but less so in the open categories.
We are therefore actively looking for both new and experienced rowers, especially junior’s and those under 40 who would like to join our club. Opportunies to row at events including the World Championships is high due to the small membership base.
If your ambition is to race in an A crew then please consider Cape Cornwall Pilot Gig Club.
This recruitment window closes on the 1st December so that winter training in crews can begin.
If interested please express your interest on this post and a member of the club will be in contact. Or message the club chair Tim Burgess direct via our Facebook page.
