Two years ago four people brought the boat ‘Amelie’ to get Newhaven Gig Rowing Club off the ground. Newhaven Gig Rowing Club promised to pay the money for the boat back by January 2020 and have £3000 remaining so are doing as much fundraising as they can.
They needed this boat to make sure they are CPGA compliant and have raised all the money so far by fundraising and grants which they have applied for.
Their regatta is on the 20th and 21st July and are using this regatta to help raise funds to buy ‘Amelie’ and the running cost of the club. If you would like to join in on this regatta they still potentially have space available for crews just email regatta@ngrc.co.uk.
Other ways of fundraising which the club have done are having bbqs, running raffles, bid writing, donations and community events but it’s been a tough struggle for the club so far.
