Mixed Championships 2019 – The Preview

Tomorrow see’s 42 CPGA clubs, many taking B and C crews also, take to the waters in Saltash for the annual Mixed Championships hosted by Caradon Gig Club.  If you are new to this, or it’s been a few years since you last entered, you are probably wondering how do you progress? How is each heat run? When will my races be? Well, we have you covered with this guide!

 

The Rules

 

Well first up, good news – everyone will get at least two rows! (I can see most of you fist pumping at that news 😉 ) So how do you progress from your heat? Below we have outlined how each race progresses to the next round;

 

Mixed vets

• Round 1: first 2 in each heat progress to semi finals
(rest to repechage)
• Repechage: winner of each heat progresses to semi finals
• Semi finals: first 2 in each heat progress to final

 

Mixed super-vets

• Round 1: first 2 in each heat progress to semi finals
(rest to repechage)
• Repechage: winner of each heat progresses to semi finals
• Semi finals: first 3 in each heat progress to final

 

Mixed under 18’s

• Round 1: first 3 in each heat progress final
(rest to plate final)

 

Mixed under 15’s
• Straight final

 

Mixed – open

• Round 1: first 2 in each heat progress to quarter finals (rest to repechage)
• Repechage: winner of each heat progresses to quarter finals
• Quarter finals: first 3 in each heat progress to semi finals
• Semi finals: first 2 in each heat progresses to final

So when will my race be?  In a packed schedule, Caradon have made sure all the racing is spread out to give enough rest for those progressing along keeping everyone interested in the day, find all the timings in the below;

The Weather

 

 

Courtesy of BBC Weather – It looks like it will be a warm, fine day with a slight easterly breeze and very small chance of rain. Perfect racing conditions for the championships! Make sure you bring plenty of water and suncream – remember to stay hydrated as it can be a long day at the Championships.
