DEVON NOMINATIONS FOR COUNTY CREWS

To ALL Devon clubs

The County championships is planned for Saturday 12th October, and being hosted by Cattewater. Timings to be confirmed at a later date.

County Crews Selections This year we are running the Championships as a ‘stand alone’ event. The categories are as follows:

• U15
• U18
• Ladies Open (Separated into A and B crews)
• Men’s Open (Separated into A and B crews)
• Ladies Veterans
• Men’s Veterans
• Ladies Supervets
• Men’s Supervets

We need all clubs to nominate, where possible, one rower for each category listed above. Once we have all nominations we will be in touch to discuss the selection process.

This will include asking each nominee for a 2K ergo test and to attend training dates which we hope to arrange where selectors can assess the best rowers for the crews.

Please note, for open nominations, we only require one male and one female name from each club. Those that may not be selected for the A squad may be selected for the B squad.

Other factors we will take into account is the location of clubs nominated. For example, if 5 ladies veterans are nominated from the North coast, and it is between and North and South coast nominee for the final spot, we would potentially select the North coast nominee as this means they have a higher chance of getting training rows organised.

Could all nominations be sent to me as soon as clubs have decided on their selections. Could all club secretaries please pass onto their club committees and/or the relevant members.

Selectors

If any members of your club would be interested in taking part with the selection process alongside myself,
could they please be included in the selection emails to me. We need a group of keen coaches to help with the selection of crews for the County Championships, so please let me know if you think you are right for the job!

Coxes
If any of your club coxes are interested in coxing at County level, please could they nominate themselves via the club secretaries so we can select coxes for each category listed above.

These are exciting times for the DCPGA, with the preparation of the County Championships and also looking ahead to the next season and the future. This is a brilliant opportunity to show how great the Devon gig community is, so I look forward to seeing you all get involved and working together as one gig family!
