The Pulling The Together the Past Heritage Team are keen to locate copies of World Pilot Gig Championships booklets. Every year the WPGC Committee have produced really useful programmes and they are proving really useful in the research activities. Unfortunately, a few crucial years are missing.
Project Manager, Karen Beswetherick is hoping members of the gig rowing community will help out. “We are looking for someone to lend us their copies of World Pilot Gig Championships booklets. The missing years include 1990, 1992, 1994, 1995, 2001 and 2007.”
The team are also interested in obtaining copies of the Gig Championship Daily Newsletter that was produced for a few years.
According to Karen, merchandise relating to the Championships is also of interest. “We are keen to hear from anyone who has a collection of clothing, hats or other items who would be willing to let us photograph them.”
Time is of the essence as the team are putting together a “30 Years of the World Pilot Gig Championships” heritage exhibition.
