Report & Results – 3rd Round of Tamar Winter League

0

A lack of sunshine didn’t dampen spirits on Saturday as Cotehele Quay Gig Club hosted the third round of the inaugural Tamar Winter League. The quick tide and eager crews meant that the crowd on Cotehele’s quayside watched some satisfying tussles and exciting finishes as boats reached the end of the two-kilometre course.  Of particular note was Cotehele Quay’s club performance; their Junior, Ladies’ Vets, Men’s B and Men’s A crews all won their races, and the regatta overall. Cotehele’s dominance on the day was not enough to displace Caradon from the top of the league table, however. Strong wins by their Ladies’ B and Men’s Veterans keeps Caradon in the lead, by 11 points. A powerful Tamar and Tavy Ladies’ A won their race, helping to keep their club in the league’s third spot.

As with all the regattas so far, racing was made all the more enjoyable thanks to the dedication of club volunteers. Special thanks must go to them and the National Trust for hosting a successful event in a beautiful setting. The next Winter League regatta will take place at Rame Gig Club on Saturday 23rd March.
