Langstone Host Jurassic Regatta at Northney Marina, Hayling Island, Saturday 16th June 2018
Strong winds were a feature of the day, with six tight anti clockwise turns the easily viewed course proved to be a challenge for all crew coxes.
A record number of crews and supporters crammed onto the foreshore at the Marina to view the racing.
To reduce the prospect of collisions over the narrow tidal course Langstone introduced seeding for the first time at a regatta, the leading four clubs in each of the eight race categories set off a minute in advance of the chasing pack, each crew were timed and it was a massive success, good news for clubs with similar constraints.
The overall regatta winners were Bridport, second Langstone, third Swanage.
London Cornish were invited as a guest team and responded well to the challenge.
The next Jurassic Regatta will be hosted by Bridport on Sunday 8th July.
Meantime Langstone are getting ready for their Annual Gig Rowing Junior Sprints event at Portsmouth Dockyard on Sunday 1st July 2018.
