Newquay Rowing Club is pleased to invite you to the annual Under 16 Championship on Sunday 22nd July 2018 at Newquay Rowing Club. The Under 16 Championship will again take place as a separate event to the senior championships, and will follow a repercharge format, to ensure that each crew is able to race at least twice.
There will be prizes for; Junior Under 16 Champions, all main finalists, highest placed Mixed Crew, highest placed All-Girl Crew and the Plate Race Champions. Presentations will take place shortly after the final.
Previous winners please return cup/shield presented last year, prior to the event, thank you.
The coxswains meeting will be at 9:30am, upstairs in the Rowing Club and a register of clubs attending will be taken. It is essential that at least one representative from your club (coxswains only) attends this meeting as it gives you important information about racing rules and safety. Depending on the number of crews entered, there will be a maximum of 6 gigs in each Heat. Heats and berths will be drawn and published on the CPGA website/emailed to individual clubs. The gigs are loaned to us in good faith, so coxswains should have a good level of competence (no novice coxswains please). We will contact individual clubs regarding the loan of gigs.
A returnable deposit of £10 per crew will be levied – please send a cheque made payable to Newquay Rowing Club with your entry form by POST to CPGA Secretary Anne Curnow Care by Saturday 7th July – Forms can be requested from Newquay with the contact further below. This will be returned to clubs as you register your crews. You will be required to provide your own oars, spare pins and a working VHF Radio. This year loaning clubs will be asked to provide a set of seats and pins for each gig, to speed up changeovers on the beach. All rowers and coxswains must wear lifejackets (provided by your own club). Your Public Liability Insurance should be registered with the CPGA secretary prior to the event, as should all rowers participating in the event.
Hot and cold food, burgers, hot dogs, filled baps, Crisp, Chocolate bars, cakes and hot and cold
beverages will be available from the gig shed.
In the event of cancellation due to adverse weather conditions, please check the CPGA website on the Friday/Saturday beforehand. Individual e-mails will be sent to club secretaries of registered crews. We have two reserve dates, calendared in advance, should the event need to be postponed due to adverse weather conditions, the event will take place during the Sunday of the senior championships: a) Sunday 2nd September (Ladies Championships) b) Sunday 16th September (Men’s Championships).
Further details for the event will be sent out to clubs entered closer to the time. In the meantime if you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact me on [email protected]
We look forward to seeing you all in July.
