Mounts Bay event 13th June :: Report, info

Again as seems to the be theme this summer the conditions were very favourable at Mounts Bay this weekend. A well organised event and with the sea state, tides and hard sand as they were this has to be one of the easiest venues to launch, recover and spectate.

The high standard of fitness throughout the fleet means the racing continues to be closely fought but overall it was somewhat of a clean sweep for Mounts Bay on their local waters.

Top 5’s as follows … (GigRower had to leave the event before the mixed and veterans results were in, we’ll try to get hold of these results soon)

Mens A – Kensa (10:42), Lantic (10:51), Petroc (11:10), Penarrow (11:15), Senara (11:16)
Mens B – Kensa (11:10), Pedn Billy (11:31), Taran & Petroc (11:46), Penarrrow (11:54)
Ladies A – Kensa (11:08), Waterwitch (12:07), Pedn Billy (12:17), Richard Lander (12:22), Hope (13:25)
Ladies B – Kensa (12:27), Hope (12:47), Taran (12:57), Waterwitch (13:02), St Elvan (13:17)

    • Hi Nath, I put the yellow areas on the maps to show a rough idea of where the course may be laid (from memory from previous years!). That said, a proper long race might be fun, especially a big leg to the 1st mark?

  1. Hi all,
The course will be as normal, a similar course to Newquay with two turns, the first one being sharper than the second. The good weather has been ordered and hopefully live video of the racing will be broadcast in the gig shed as you buy lots of delicious cakes!

    See you on the water!

I think you should. Saves getting bunched up on the first mark. If the first mark was always 7-8 minutes away rather than 4-5 like we always seem to see now there would be lots less bother.
Are all the top clubs due to turn up? Caradon, Par, Mounts Bay, Falmouth, Roseland?
