Mixed & Vets

Arguably one of the slickest organised events of the year, the Mixed & Veterans Championships are hosted by Caradon Gig Club at Saltash.

The two day regatta gives rowers the chance to compete in a number of races over the course of a weekend. Mixed crew racing (where the ladies and men share a gig) is a great alternative to the usual ladies or men-only events which comprise the bulk of the racing calendar. Mixed crews can be of all ages. But this weekend also showcases the abilities of the older rowers in the fleet with highly competitive racing amongst those classed as ‘Veterans’ (over 40 years old) and ‘Super-Veterans’ (over 50).  The Vets races are in both mixed as well as ladies and mens-only crew line-ups.

Clubs do not necessarily need to bring a gig themselves. As happens at the Newquay County Championships, boats are loaned from a selection of clubs.

The Mixed & Vets Championships will be on June 27th and 28th in 2015. We’ll keep you posted with all the news, before and after the event.

Does anyone have any idea as to what time the mixed Supervets races would start on the Saturday of the mixed – Saturday 27th June?
I am assuming that they will be last, after the mixed, juniors, and vets, as that’s how they are listed but no point in being there at 9am for a 3pm start.
    Thanks in anticipation.
