Porlock Weir Pilot Gig Club is situated on the quay of an ancient harbor that goes back centuries on the edge of Exmoor National Park in West Somerset.
They aim to continue developing a club that caters for the whole community offering everything from social to competitive, junior to super veteran age groups.
It is also important for them as a club in their community to address the growing issues of pollution, mental well-being and health.
Ben Allerton Chair of Porlock says; “We are currently exploring ways we can work with care providers for children from disadvantaged backgrounds, and young adults with learning disabilities.
Although we are a fairly small, and geographically isolated community, we have definitely felt the support of the wider Pilot Gig community, and the Exmoor National Park Authority.
We would particularly like to thank and acknowledge the help and advice offered from Ilfracombe, Clevedon, Burnham-on-Sea, Boscastle & Crackington. Last, but not least the CPGA and GigRower”
PWPGC are looking forward to inviting you to Porlock Weir in 2019 as well as visiting some of the Pilot Gig clubs throughout the South West
