Czar Girls To Row From Scillies To Penzance… And Back Again!

If you’re going to do a fundraiser, you might as well put a bit of effort in. And that is certainly what the Czar Girls crew of Tresco & Bryher Gig Club are doing.

The ladies crew, who came 11th at the 2018 World Pilot Gig Championships, will be rowing from the Scillies to Penzance, and back again the following day, this September.

The challenge is in aid of the gig club, who are trying to raise £3,500 in order to maintain their fleet of pilot gigs. It also marks the 50th anniversary of the Czar’s first mainland row and it’s upcoming 140th birthday.

The Czar was built in 1879 and is one of the few remaining Victorian era boats still racing.

You can take a look at their JustGiving campaing here:

Best of luck to the Czar Girls!
