Clovelly have just taken delivery of a new GRP gig, thanks to several years’ fund-raising and a £10,000 grant from Sport England.
The club were keen to offer more rowing opportunities especially for juniors but as anyone who’s ever attended Clovelly’s popular regatta knows, manhandling boats down the slipway and across the stony beach takes a lot of effort.
The GRP gig from Trevor Deakin will make that easier, and the club is already working on extra sessions as a result.
“The funding from Sport England was absolutely essential in making this happen” said Paul Smale, club chairman, “but so was the support from gig rowers across the South West. Anyone who’s ever bought a burger, a raffle ticket or a piece of cake at our regatta has helped get us a bit closer to our goal, and it’s great to have finally got there!”
Everyone at Gigrower.co.uk wishes all the luck at the launch and look forward to see the photos!
