On 20th June, 18 rowers from River Teign Rowing Club will fly out to Samara, Russia to take part in the Volga Race Challenge, which is a 150km non stop race. They will be rowing in two traditional Russian Yawl boats (see pic below) and expect to take about 18 hours. They will have two Russian coxes.

Jane Tipper, Vice Chair of the club, said “We start at 6pm on Friday 23rd row throughout the night and hopefully finish on the Saturday! We will be the first British team to complete this. The charity we have chosen to raise money for is Rowcroft Hospice. Our Justgiving page is The Crazy Volga Race.”
