This interesting challenge will take place on 14th July 2017. Charlestown Gig Club have pretty much got the gig side of things covered as it’s taking place just off shore from their base, but the organisers have put a call out for more runners to take part. So please contact them if you are interested.
Here’s what they say about the event:
“For those of you who don’t know us, let us introduce ourselves! We are MudCrew Events, a local trio who organise a number of running events here in Cornwall. Our ethos is to utilise the beautiful, natural surroundings this lovely county has to offer. We also like to put on events that are unique. Most running events pit competitors against each other. The terrain can offer challenges in itself but every runner faces the same challenges.
We wanted to put on something different! Looking around the country, we found that it was possible to race against a number of things! Horses, trains, the tide, a mountain! What could we do that no one else has done and at the same time keep it relevant to Cornwall?
We couldn’t think of anything better, to showcase Cornwall, something synonymous with the coast, the sea, the natural elements, than a Gig and it’s finest crew! We want to answer the question, who will triumph, Gig or runner?
We want this to be a fantastic summer event, with a competitive edge, where you can show us exactly what Gig rowing is all about and answer that burning question : who will triumph in The Man V Gig ?
We are really looking forward to this exciting adventure with the gig rowing community and we will see you in July!”
