River Teign Rowing Club are entering a crew of super-Supervets into the Friday night race at this year’s World Championships, with rowers ranging in age from a shade under 60 to well over 70.

What they lack in terms of youth, they gain in terms of experience, determination and wild optimism! The crew are looking forward to lining up against younger supervet crews on the start line, and any other ‘vintage’ crews that are there.

Comment below if your club will have any older crews on the start-line.

Crew in photo above (L-R): Mike Izzard, Rod Pash, Ian Mitchell, Jon Haytread, Bob Higgs; Kneeling from the left are John Lintell (coach), Simon Hallworth, Lisa Pash (Cox).

Yes, we have some Dartmouth Ultra-SuperVets – average age 63 and our ‘senior member’ in the bow is 71. Pleased that we have our own race this year. We will be in our Senior Gig, Lightning (born 1999), so look out for us.
