This week, the first gigs have started to leave the mainland for Scilly.
We’ve been in touch with the Isles of Scilly Steamship Company to see if we could get clubs some general advice about when and where to drop off any gigs going out to St. Mary’s for the World Championships.
We’ve been told, however, that unfortunately every sailing is slightly different and so every club should ring the Steamship Company direct, at least the day before, to check the timings and location for dropping their boat. All club secretaries will know which days and boat their gig(s) are travelling out to the island on. Some will go on the Gry Maritha and others on the Scillonian.
So ring the office and you will often be given a window in which you can leave the gig for the staff at Penzance to then load your trailer on to the ferry. The CPGA will, where possible, also give information via Twitter. Follow them here.
The number to call for the Freight Office is 01736 334 249.
