Teign Rowing Club’s men’s crew were in the first Cornish Pilot Gig to finish the Great River Race in London last weekend. And Teign’s ladies crew in their gig Teign Spirit, was the joint fastest women’s crew overall. Out of 43 gig entries and over 250 other types of vessel which took part in this annual race up the Thames.
The Teign men, in Morgan, rowed the 21 mile course in a time of 02:27:46. They were also the 3rd fastest men’s crew in the whole event.
2nd placed gig was Scheveningen in Excalibur in 02:33:44, followed closely by Boscastle & Crackington in Torrent in 02:34:37
Langstone Cutters’ Spirit of Langstone were 3rd in the Veteran Women and Port Isaac in Roscarrock were 3rd in the Mixed category.
