This morning saw the first shipment of gigs over to the Isles of Scilly for the 2015 World Gig Championships.
Fly from Newquay, Ann Glanville from Caradon and Taran from Mounts Bay have been the first to go and boarded the Gry Maritha today. These are just a few of the approx 140 gigs which need to be transported across to St. Mary’s before the end of April on behalf of mainland clubs.
Advice from Debbie at the Steamship Company to clubs is:
1. To always ring the office a day or two ahead to check the time of sailing as this alters depending on tides etc
2. Bear in mind there are currently roadworks along the harbourside, limiting access and the drop-off area on both quays. So a plea to not bring them along too early if possible.
