Nic Wilson told GigRower that their new boat, which has been purchased with the help of funding from SITA, “will be club colour green on the outside and varnished inside. Her name will be Helford, to replace our original Helford that was sold to Exmouth”. The club had also recently sold on another gig (Golden Gear) to Boscastle & Crackington so this new one, built by the Currah boatyard of Looe will be a welcome addition. It’s just been announced that she’ll be officially blessed by the Archdeacon of Cornwall and launched on March 28th.
Andy Forte from the River Teign Rowing Club said that theirs will be named ‘Templar” and is set “to be the most competitive boat we’ve had”. A Sport England grant contributed half towards the cost of her and Lewis Hunkin of Fowey has been the boatbuilder for this one. Teign’s naming ceremony will be next Sunday – March 1st.
