The Cornish Guardian newspaper report that Newquay Gig Club have announced that they’ve won £60,000 towards the costs of building a better gig storage area for their club.

The existing tunnel area has never been an ideal setup. The new storage will allow changing rooms and better disabled access.

The Guardian reports that:

The grant – which is the largest yet awarded in Cornwall – came from the Ministry of Defence, and was administered by Cornwall Council, the Cornish branch of the Royal British Legion and the Armed Forces.

John Cuthill, who prepared the funding bid, is delighted to have been awarded the grant, which he says will make a huge difference to the club.

“We are very proud of our historic club which is continuing to thrive,” he said.
