A record 96 crews took part in this year’s Ladies County Championships at Newquay. And it was Roseland Gig Club which came out on top as the overall winners.
Roseland ended the long-standing dominance of the Falmouth Ladies in this event. With Newquay A crew finishing 2nd, Mounts Bay A 3rd. Caradon, Teign and Newquay B crews finished 4th, 5th and 6th respectively.
John Cuthill from the host club said:
“The atmosphere was unbelievable. The weather was very quiet on Saturday and everybody had a great time out on the water.
“We managed to get through all the heats and it was a great atmosphere.“Then on Sunday there was a bit of wind coming in from the North East and that provided the rowers with a bit more of a challenge.”
