u14 is up to and including school year 9 ( through to “the end of the season” – ie men’s Newquay) Ie. a Junior rower could turn 14 at any point during the season but still be classed as u14

u16 is school years 10 & 11 (through to “the end of the season” – ie men’s Newquay ) Ie. a Junior rower could turn 16 at any point during the season but still be classed as u16

u14’s are allowed to compete at u16 level but NOT adult level

u16’s are allowed to compete in adult crews

For racing Under CPGA rules Lifejackets must be worn by all those who are technically Junior rowers up until the end of their u16 season. Coxwains of any Junior rower must also wear a lifejacket

At “friendly” events it is usual to “declare” if an u14 crew contains an u16 rower for any reason

    Hope that helps !

U14’s must be 13 or under on the 1st of September (Year 9 or under), and U16’s must be 15 or under on the 1st of September (Year 11 or under)
    Hope I’ve helped 😀
