Cornish indoor rowing competitions 17/18th January – The results!

1427 0

Last weekend saw a busy 2 days of indoor rowing competitions. On Friday 17th Jan, the Cornwall School Games Indoor Rowing Competition saw 222 young people take part in year 7 -1 3 ran by British Rowing & Cornwall Sports Partnership. This included young rowers from local gig clubs. With 22 schools now offering indoor rowing, this shows huge potential to get more young people out on the water. Should your club be interested in forming a link with a school – creating a ‘Satellite Club’ please get in touch with Kev Sellar – ksellar@plymstockschool.org.uk or Rhiannon Halliday Rhiannon.halliday@britishrowing.org.

Sat 18th January saw 65 people compete in the Cornish Indoor Rowing Competition, ran by British Rowing in partnership with Newquay Sports Centre. This included entries from a number of gig/flashboat clubs: Caradon, Newquay, Hayle, Mounts Bay, Boscastle and Calstock to name just a few. It is hoped that interest will grow year on year  – this event could form part of YOUR clubs winter training!!

Huge thanks to all the volunteers who made these events possible.
