Cotehele Quay Gig Club would like to invite you to our CRUNCH GYM TAMAR CHALLENGE. A pursuit race from Saltash Bridge to Cotehele Quay, a distance of approximately 9 miles, on the scenic river Tamar.
Start time at Saltash is approximately 12:30 hrs but some clubs have expressed interest in rowing their gigs from Cotehele to Saltash early in the morning as a purely social row. They would set off by 8:30 am.
Could you please let us know whether you would like to attend and what crews you would like to enter, i.e. Seniors, Veterans, Supervets, mixed etc. so that we can work out handicaps. Numbers are limited so it will be on a first come first served basis if oversubscribed. Could you also let us know if you would like to bring a junior crew as we will then organise a shorter race once all the gigs have arrived back at Cotehele. Further instructions will be sent closer to the event.
The event is kindly sponsored by Launceston’s Crunch Gym who will be running martial arts demonstrations on the quay on the day. All challenge participants will receive a goody bag including a branded event t-shirt and a day pass to allow them to experience the gym’s facilities free of charge.
Crunch Gym, situated on Scarne Industrial Estate on the Link Road, offers free parking and a cardio suite. The weights room includes numerous machines and cables, a squat rack and free weights, barbells and dumbbells. The jigsaw-floored martial arts hall features a functional training rig, boxing bags and pads, climbing ropes, kettlebells and weights for X-Fit, making it an ideal location for winter training. Fitness and martial arts classes operate throughout the week. The gym’s Facebook page is available at: http://www.facebook.com/pages/CRUNCH-GYM/89796946037
Free food and drink will be supplied by Ginsters, Samworth Brothers and the Cornish Crisp Company to help you refuel after the nine-mile race.
