WIN A PLACE IN THE ROUND THE ISLAND RACE

Cotehele Quay Gig Club has been donated a place on the Belladonna racing yacht in the world-famous Round The Island Race (round the Isle of Wight) on Saturday 1st June.

Slots go for £250 per head, but you can enter the draw for just £5 per ticket. Whoever wins can travel up to Port Hamble marina with a Cotehele Quay club member on the Friday afternoon and stay onboard that night, or alternatively they can make their own way there.

All money raised will go towards a new boat for Cotehele Quay Gig Club.

Belladonna is a 46ft Grand Soleil built in 2010, optimised for inshore and offshore racing. She has a racing sail wardrobe with £120,000 worth of carbon sails and is competitively rated.

You will be racing in Class 1, starting first on the Saturday morning amongst all the top yachts with mainly professional crews. The highest speed Belladonna has achieved in this race is 18.5 knots, so the crew is looking to better that and to get a top 10 finish in class.

For details of the yacht go to www.belladonnayachting.com and for the Round the Island Race, see www.roundtheisland.org.uk. There are currently 1,427 entries which gives you an idea of the scale of this event. Sir Ben Ainslie, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, Dame Ellen MacArthur, Dee Caffari MBE, Helena Lucas MBE, Alex Thomson and Mike Golding are all taking part.

The draw will take place on Monday 20th May so the winner will know in plenty of time that they have their place.

You can enter as many times as you like at £5 per go. To enter, email jade.farrington@gmail.com stating how many tickets you would like and which rowing club you are a member of. Please do so urgently due to the draw taking place in just a few days’ time.

This is set to be a truly amazing experience for whoever wins.
