983 0

Clevedon Pilot Gig Club have just been awarded their third grant of £10,000 from Sport England to add to those obtained in 2010 and 2011. This latest grant will provide additional equipment and training to progress the Youth Development programme which the Club is introducing.
Chairman Andrew Brown said – ‘ We are extremely grateful for the confidence, support and encouragement which Sport England has given to help grow the Club since our foundation in 2009. We never imagined there would be so much interest and enthusiasm locally in Pilot Gig rowing, but that has increased still further after the successes in the London Olympics. This latest award recognises the real dedication of our members in building a very successful Club, and we are proud to be the first in Somerset. This next project is to introduce a strong Youth Development programme to give local youngsters an experience of gig rowing and, hopefully, take up a lifelong interest in our exciting sport to ensure its future’
