During the day on Saturday gig trailers are being stored on Westham Bridge, which is a short distance along Commercial Road from the public slipway.
Any gigs staying overnight on the Saturday will need to be towed to the secure car park at the ferry port, behind Weymouth Pavilion (DT4 8DX).
Gig Launching Gig arrival times on the Saturday are between 8:30am and 10am at the public slipway near Debenhams. Assistance will be on hand for unloading and launching of gigs.
Trailers will be parked at Westham Bridge – Club Members will be on hand with directions and assistance.
You will require a cox and rowers to row your gig round to the pontoons. Please take care on the water as traffic on the river can be busy at this time of year.
There are a few local hazards which must pointed out:
The Town Lifting Bridge – stop if red lights show.
Rowing boat ferries – These cross the harbour just past the life boat station and they don’t tend to give way!
Car Parking Towing vehicles will be given a ticket for free parking in the pavilion car park or the car park at the Nothe Gardens. Please collect this from the Club Member at the public slipway on the Saturday.
We also have a number of tickets for discount car parking in the Nothe Gardens car park – these will be handed out on a first come first served basis. There is also some free parking available along Barrack Road, which leads up to the Nothe Gardens.
Further, privately owned, parking can be found in Brewers Quay area, but be mindful to not go over time as it is CCTV operated and will fine you through the post if you are late.
