Fixed Seat Technique Workshops

The first technique workshop of 2013 ran on Monday in Falmouth, tutored by Nick Maxted. There will be 3 more workshops on the following dates:

  • 15th Jan 6.30-9.30pm – St Agnes Sports Club (Rhiannon Halliday)
  • 29th Jan 6.30-9.30pm  – Saltash Sailing Club (Steve Kent & Nigel Churcher)
  • 4th Feb 6.30-9.30pm – Paignton Rowing Club (Rhiannon Halliday)

British Rowing, in conjunction with the CPGA and CRA, have developed a workshop outlining the key aspects of fixed seat rowing technique. The workshop covers the key concepts of effective technique, including correct posture and grip, and the correct sequence for catch, drive, finish and recovery/return.

Who are the sessions aimed at? Coaches coxes and rowers from across the region aiming to improve their technique.

Who will run them? Each session will be delivered by coaches from the leading clubs within the CPGA or Rhiannon Halliday from British Rowing.

How long will it last? The workshop is 3 hours long – 6.30-9.30pm

How much will it cost? The charge is £7 per person which includes a 3 month registration to British Rowing and an a3 poster.

    We ran a workshop at Falmouth watersports centre in early Jan which was delivered by Nick Maxted.

    There are no plans to run any more this year as we are nearing the end of the series now with the final workshop tonight.

    Many coaches from local clubs attended the falmouth workshop so will be able to pass on their knowledge!
