Fancy a new challenge over the winter period?

British Rowing has teamed up with Cornwall Council and
Cornwall Sports Partnership to run an indoor rowing project this winter 2011-12……

The Cornish Indoor Rowing League……a series of 6 monthly challenges, all with a Cornish theme. The first challenge is December – rowing the length of the Tamar Bridge. You can take part in the following ways:

  • At your local Cornwall Council gym….we have trained a number of
instructors to help you complete and log the challenges.
  • In any other gym / club / on any rowing machine…..just take a picture of
the screen and email in to me at along with your name, postcode, club / gym and your date of birth.
  • Results will be posted at the beginning of the following month on the
following web pages: British Rowing West Region, Cornwall Council and Cornwall
Sports Partnership – see how you faired against the rest of the county.

The Cornish Indoor Rowing Championships – Sunday 18th March 2012.

  • This will be run at Newquay Sports Centre on Sun 18th March
2012. There will be individual 2,000m races in many categories, a 2012m four
person relay challenge, and an enter on the day sprint challenge. Please
    register your interest with

Sportivate – ‘Rowivate’ project – Jan 2012 onwards.

  • Three Cornwall Council gyms will be running a ‘Rowivate’ project, linked
to local colleges. This will involve students ages 16-25 applying for a 6 week
free gym membership at a Cornwall Council site, and then completing rowing
focused gym sessions. There will be a ‘Rowivate’ category at the Cornwall
Indoor Champs in March for rowers involved in this scheme.
