Press Release from Reverend Troutbeck:
The idea behind ‘Reverend Troutbeck’ is simple – to provide fellow gig rowers with merchandise which reflects the passion and devotion they have for the sport.
We’re proud gig rowers, and also artist printmakers. We’re inspired by gig history and heritage, by our own experience of rowing these beautiful boats, and by the legends and romance of sea-faring.
The T-shirt designs are created by our own not-so-fair, blistered hands, and screen-printed locally, in the West Country. Our gear is equally at home in a gig or in the pub.
So, if you’re evangelical about gig rowing, why not put on one of our very first T-shirts and spread the gospel?
We’re planning more exciting products in the near future, including new T-shirts, bags, limited edition lino-cut prints and cards, so please come back soon. You can always check out our blog for the latest news.
Oh, and in case you’re wondering, Reverend Troutbeck was Chaplain on the Isles of Scilly in the late 18th Century. However, in 1794, he was forced to resign in disgrace after he was caught using gigs to smuggle contraband.
Don’t worry though, our stuff is perfectly legal!
