Ocean City Race :: Cork 2011

7043 2

I am the organiser of an annual rowing race called the Ocean to City race which takes place in Cork Harbour Ireland. The race covers 15 miles through the harbour finishing in spectacular style in Cork City centre. The race is open to all types of non sliding seat boats (including kayaks).

We would love to see a fleet of Cornish pilot gigs at next year’s race due, to take place on 4th June 2011. I am hoping to get a sponsorship deal with one of the ferry companies for transport of the boats to Cork either via Sawnsea-Cork or Fishguard-Rosslare. The more crews interested in coming over to Cork the stronger my case is for sponsorship so if any of your crews have an interest in coming to Cork for Ocean to City 2011 I would love to hear from you soon!

  1. Looking forward to this event next year, In fact we have just had our trailer overhauled in anticipation for the trip to your beautiful city of Cork.

We have raced against gig’s both at the great river race and in Langston so to be able to race against them in Cork would be fantastic.

We are looking at bringing over a few Thames Waterman Cutters in June so hope to see you guys over there.
