UPDATE :: FRIDAY 21st :: 1513
The event at Fowey tomorrow will definitely be on, but may be subject to restrictions due to the forecasted weather. The restrictions imposed, if required, will keep racing within the harbour due to forecasted “choppy” seas outside the harbour entrance. An evaluation of conditions will be completed before the racing program commences and restrictions communicated at the Cox’s meeting.
Racing starts at 12:30 as follows:
MIXED (time permitting)
CPGA RULES APPLY
NO ‘A’ rowers in a ‘B’ race
Towing vehicles, please follow the signs from the mini roundabout to Bodinnick Ferry, where our members will be on hand to assist. Please bring enough rowers to row your boat from the slipway. Rowers please follow the signs towards Fowey town centre, and park in any of the main car parks.
Low water is at 1300 at 0.1m, this is a very low spring, almost chart datum and rowers in the later heats will experience a very strong flood tide against them on the way out and enjoy a very quick run in home. I am not that familiar with Fowey but would not be surprised to see 2-3 knots of current mid tide and mid channel with such a big spring.
Once gigs are launched, trailers will be securely stored & not available again until the completion of the MB race.
Fowey Gig Club will be holding our usual BBQ with fresh butchers burgers, sausages, baguettes, home made cakes and a full range of refreshments throughout the day.
Prize giving will follow the last race.
Evening entertainment will include a live band on Town Quay. Torchlight Dinghy Procession from Bodinnick ferry and a grand Firework Display at 9.30pm.
