Over 14 Gigs have registered with more expected plus a number of smaller boats.
Weather … looks like we have light to moderate northerlies forecast with patchy cloud but mostly sunny.
Tide … you will be rowing up on the flood tide, high tide is at 1900 and as you enter the river at Turnaware expect a good 1 – 2 knots of tide under you but this will drop as you near Truro.
Tips … make the most of the tide and avoid the shallows as you near Truro, even with a meter of water under your keel your boat will begin to feel sluggish. 8 large ships are now moored up the river past King Harry so keep this in mind as the best race line will not be obvious.
Start … Launch from Mylor Yacht Harbour, trailers back to Boscawen Park, where parking has been arranged.
Photos … I will try and make it with the RIB so keep an eye on GigRower after for pics and results.
Please if possible notify Lindsay in advance by email of what crews will be attending, so that they can sort out the handicaps.
Entries at Mylor Yacht harbour from 3pm to 4pm, fee £2 per rower to be paid on entering the crew. You will then be given your start time.
Coxes’ meeting 4pm, first boat away 4.30pm
All gigs to carry a radio, small boats to carry a radio if possible, and 2 bailers.
No overtaking at the lock gates – there will be an umpire on the bank before the lock gates giving instructions regarding precedence, and any vessel not complying with the umpire’s instructions WILL BE DISQUALIFIED – this is a safety issue and there will be no leniency – you have been warned.
The finish will be off the Vickery Holman offices approx ½ mile beyond the lock gates.
Retrieval of boats will be on the slip at Boscawen Park, and please join us for Refreshments, Results and Presentation of Prizes afterwards at the Truro Cricket Clubhouse in Boscawen Park.
