The Festival will be taking place at the same time as the gig racing and celebrates the area’s close relationship with the sea, the festival brings together a range of sporting activities, cultural events and entertainment including a live music event on the beach on the Saturday night of the gig event.
Weymouth Rowing Club intend to run the racing in the same format as 2008 with a longish straight line race to sort out ‘seeds’, and then 3 heats – straight line sprints. In response to observations last year from the CPGA this years races will be split into A & B races so that if you have two ladies crews and two men’s crews, you only need to bring one boat. It will make for a tightly packed weekend starting at 10 am on Saturday and ending by 4 pm on Sunday.
The club will have the Marquee available on the Noth Gardens where camping can take place as usual over the weekend and will serve food and drink to participants on Saturday and Sunday. There will be showers and toilets. If enough want to come on Friday night then we’ll be pleased to do breakfast on Saturday morning as well as Sunday morning.
